A commercial poultry operation upgraded with Big Dutchman broiler automation, including pan feeding, nipple drinkers, ViperTouch climate control and ventilation systems.

Big Dutchman East Africa supported a commercial poultry operation in Kenya with an automation upgrade designed to help the business move from semi-commercial farming to a more structured, industrial-grade production system.

As production scales, manual systems can begin to limit growth. Labour requirements increase, flock performance becomes harder to standardise and daily production conditions become more difficult to manage consistently across each cycle. Big Dutchman systems support this transition by helping farms move from basic infrastructure to a more predictable, automated and scalable production environment.

The installation included automated pan feeding, nipple drinker lines, ViperTouch climate control and tunnel or cross-flow ventilation systems. Together, these systems support a more controlled and repeatable broiler production process.

This project demonstrates how automation can help commercial poultry farms professionalise their operations, reduce manual dependency and prepare for future expansion.

From Semi-Commercial Farming to Industrial-Grade Production

The main goal of this installation was to reduce dependence on manual labour while improving consistency, flock uniformity and performance predictability.

For commercial broiler farms, these are critical priorities. As production scales, every house needs reliable access to feed, clean water, stable airflow and controlled environmental conditions. Without this level of control, performance can vary between houses, production cycles and management teams.

This project demonstrates how automation can help commercial poultry farms professionalise their operations and prepare for future expansion.

Automated Broiler Production Systems

The installation covers a full Big Dutchman equipment setup across the client’s commercial poultry houses. The system includes automated pan feeding, nipple drinker lines, ViperTouch climate control and tunnel or cross-flow ventilation systems.

Together, these systems support a more controlled and repeatable broiler production process. Automated feeding helps distribute feed consistently across the house, while the drinking system gives birds reliable water access with pressure monitoring. Ventilation and climate control help maintain better growing conditions, especially in production environments where temperature, humidity and airflow can shift throughout the day.

Poultry Systems Installed

This project includes:

  • Pan feeders for automated feed delivery and consistent ration distribution
  • Nipple drinker lines with water pressure monitoring
  • ViperTouch climate and production control for centralised environmental management
  • Tunnel and cross-flow ventilation systems for airflow control
  • Commercial broiler house automation designed for repeatable production cycles

These systems work together to support stronger production discipline across the poultry house. For scaling farms, this matters because performance is not only determined by equipment quality. It is also determined by how consistently the production environment can be managed every day.

Climate Control and Ventilation Management

A key part of this installation is the use of ViperTouch climate computers to support centralised house management. Climate control is especially important in commercial broiler production because bird comfort, airflow, temperature and humidity can directly influence flock performance.

Ventilation systems support air movement, help remove excess heat and moisture and improve the overall growing environment. When combined with automated feeding and drinking systems, climate control helps the farm move toward a more structured and measurable production model.

This is especially useful for agripreneurs and commercial farmers who want to expand without allowing operational complexity to grow out of control.

This project shows how Big Dutchman automation can help a commercial poultry farm upgrade from manual production into a more predictable, scalable and professionally managed broiler operation.

A Reference Project for Scaling Agripreneurs

This project is a strong reference installation for similar commercial farms across East Africa. It speaks directly to producers who are no longer operating at smallholder scale, but who are not yet fully industrialised. For these businesses, automation is often the bridge between growth ambition and operational control.

The project aligns closely with Big Dutchman East Africa’s broader positioning: not poultry houses, but complete production systems. The value lies in combining equipment, control systems and farm design into infrastructure that supports better labour efficiency, stronger flock consistency and long-term scalability.

For our client, the result is a broiler production environment better suited to commercial growth. Through automated feeding, reliable drinking systems, ViperTouch climate control and managed ventilation, Big Dutchman East Africa supports a production model built for stronger performance and more predictable results.

This project demonstrates the practical value of poultry farm automation for East African agripreneurs who are ready to move from farming to production.
